POSITION SUMMARY 
This position is responsible for performing a variety of general maintenance and repair duties associated with medical equipment. 

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES 
Repair and maintain a variety of hospital medical equipment and systems in accordance with the requirements of the manufacturer, all regulatory agencies and Children's Medical Center of Dallas guidelines and practices; maintain documentation consistent with all maintenance activities performed; order repair parts and track receipt of all purchased items. 
React to emergencies and urgent needs for service, as well as participate in the on-call process which demands being available for response on off-hours as well as weekends 
Assemble, inspect and install new equipment 
Inspect incoming non-hospital owned equipment 
Participating in meetings, study sessions, departmental activities and education to include manufacturer and/or vendor training. 
Involvement in special projects, incidents involving equipment, and/or other assignments as indicated. 

EXPERIENCE 
Minimum 6 months - 1 year of related experience preferred. 
Hospital or Biomedical Equipment Service preferred.

Description:Position Summary:

Essential Functions:
Repair and maintain a variety of complex hospital medical equipment and systems in accordance with the requirements of the manufacturer, all regulatory agencies and Children's Medical Center of Dallas guidelines and practices; maintain documentation consistent with all maintenance activities performed; order repair parts and track receipt of all purchased items. 
Assists with training of biomedical technicians; provides guidance to technicians and acts as lead in the absence of management.

The Senior Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) repairs and maintains patient care equipment devices, instruments, systems and related technologies to ensure its safe and effective performance. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) according to Hospital policies, procedures and industry-recognized standards. Maintains documentation of all service events, performance tests and corrective maintenance performed on a wide range of equipment types, including life support, monitoring, diagnostic, therapeutic and general clinical (patient care) devices. Participates in and/or assists with development of departmental and hospital-based continuous quality improvement initiatives. Maximizes patient safety by supporting the proper use, application and operational performance of patient care equipment. Serves as a role model with respect to all relevant aspects of the job, including, but not limited to communication, documentation, and demeanor. 

Documents all actions and test results according to department policy; performs rounds in assigned areas to access how equipment is being utilized, and to answer any operational questions from equipment users; keeps equipment users informed as to the status of repairs; and identifies the most prudent means of repair based on clinical need and cost. 

The Senior BMET periodically travels to other Baylor facilities to assist with scheduled and unscheduled service activities; coordinates and participates in special projects as assigned; and reviews the outcome of preventive maintenance actions and makes recommendations to management staff concerning the need to make changes to the PM schedule frequency, procedures and/or data documentation forms. The Sr Tech provides leadership and managerial oversight to personnel as assigned; attends routine and special meetings; and participates in on-call rotation. Responsible for the competency assessment and training for BMETs and performs other position appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional and courteous manner. 

The ideal Senior BMET candidate will have a valid Texas Driver's license, 5 years of computer system and networking experience, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and effective time-management and organizational skills. Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements required. Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) required

Radiology Service Technician II

Qualifications/Duties:
Hours:

Required Minimum Education:
Associate's Degree in Radiology Equipment Technology or Electronics or related field
Or
Military training/education or Vocational/Trade school or Specialized formal training and Certification of Completion in CT, Nuclear Medicine, MR
Or
Angiographic/Vascular Imaging Systems. This training should be from an OEM or recognized
Radiology Training Institute.

Required Minimum Experience:
8 years experience servicing diagnostic imaging systems and 2 years experience of primary responsibility servicing the above specialized modalities (shown in Education)

Required Licensure/Certification:
Upon hire Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Preferred Certification as a Biomedical Technician (CBET), or Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist (CRES)

Job Duties:
Repair, install, maintain, calibrate and inspect high-end diagnostic imaging systems. Provides instruction and guidance to other Technicians in performing these duties.
Under minimal supervision demonstrate good technical/troubleshooting skills using digital voltage meters, radiation meters and a variety of equipment analyzers. Able to read schematics and diagrams in service manuals to calibrate/repair equipment. Able to instruct other Technicians on the proper operation and service of assigned specialized modalities. Be a resource for technical information to other Technicians. Able to step in when necessary
to advance a service action to a successful conclusion.
Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety of high end diagnostic imaging systems. Effectively review historic documentation to determine additional testing that could prevent future system failures. Ensure proper calibrations, parts replacement and testing of systems during required scheduled maintenance. Review and address any problems or recurrent issues that when corrected will lead to longer time between failures.
Assists Manager with developing better and more efficient preventative maintenance procedures and protocols to ensure a higher degree of reliability and longer times between failures.
Periodically travel to various Texas Health Resources facilities to perform service related activities. Able to respond to a variety of imaging service issues at any of Texas Health Resources' facilities in the metroplex. Uses company vehicles in a safe and efficient manner and reports service or safety issues with the vehicles to the proper controlling Manager.
Complete and maintain documentation of all PM and repair actions in a timely manner using established department work order/asset management program.
Properly documents labor time and costs as well as all parts used and their associated costs. Paperwork performer and closed within 48 hours of job completion. Completes and enters service records of OEM field service reports in work order system reflecting proper labor times and parts utilized.
Performs daily rounds in assigned areas. Works specifically with staff in high-end modalities such as MR, CT, Nuclear medicine and/or Angiographic/Vascular Imaging. Participates in on-call duties for weekend and after hours service coverage. Able to develop effective communication with staff in assigned areas. Become a point of contact between the staff and the Clinical Engineering dept. on critical issues of service and operation of equipment. Ability with minimal
supervision to perform on-call duties after hours, on weekends and whenever the department is closed. Able to successfully and effectively use all resources at their disposal to address and correct service issues during on-call hours. Assists in the development of diagnostic tools to be used through-out the imaging spectrum.
Recommend the purchase or acquisition of biomedical equipment or related accessories; advise Lead Engineer of equipment deficiencies as required.
Document all actions and test results in accordance with departmental policy, using equipment database and standard office software. Maintain maintenance history records and prepare reports as required.
Coordinate and/or lead in special projects, including installation of new systems, acceptance testing, equipment upgrades and equipment disposals.
Mentoring level 1 imaging techs
Provide application and network support ensuring stability, reliability and high availability of Information Technology systems that are supported by Health Technology Management. This includes but not limited to upgrades, patches, downtime, backup/restoration and disaster recovery planning.
Manage software upgrades and revisions and networked issues.

Job Summary:
An entry-level biomedical technician who is capable of doing preventive maintenance on a wide variety of biomedical equipment. Should have a technical background and the ability to perform minor repairs. Expected to learn troubleshooting skills and operation of a wide variety of biomedical equipment. He/she will be expected to participate in business growth and productivity improvement initiatives.

Job Description:

The Biomedical Equipment Technician primarily works at an assigned location and provides cost-effective maintenance on UHS and customer-owned medical equipment to assure it is functioning properly and meets customers’ needs. The Biomedical Equipment Technician performs operational verification, preventive maintenance and corrective repair service, and completes all associated documentation and communication in a timely manner.

Knowledge and Physical Requirements
Associates or bachelor’s degree in (electronics, mechanical engineering or biomedical equipment technology) or equivalent military training.
Prior work experience in hospital setting or with customer service preferred.
Demonstrated competency to perform operational verification procedures, preventive maintenance and repair service on various equipment.
